Her parents have told her about the sacred Idumask and it’s magical powers. Anyone who wears it begins to dance. At the coronation, four dancers leap and spin as though they have no bones. Emike is spell bound. If she could just put the mask on, surely she could dance like that too? While her parents are greeting the chiefs, Emike slips away.
