Mary Funmilola Onidare is a young and resourceful artist. She was born in Osogbo, Osun State and graduated from the Polytechnic of Ibadan, in 2013 with a National Diploma (ND). Not the type that rests on her oars, young Mary proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where she graduated with a Bachelors of Arts Degree (BA) in Fine Arts in 2018.
Her passion for art was unbeatable and unprecedented as she did her Industrial Training (IT) in the Universal Studios of Art, Lagos; where she sharpened her professional skills.
She has participated in some art shows which includes: Africa4her (2016), SO FAR (2018) SNA (2018), LIMCAF (2018), IDESIGN VI (2020) IDESIGN VII (2021) among others. ‘SO FAR’ is an annual exhibition of the final year students of the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.
Mary Funmilola Onidare is presently manoeuvring her creative skills through the murky waters of modern art, using painting as the preferred genre.
Mary expresses herself mostly in oil and acrylic, and her works are influenced by the female forms and the experiences that adolescents pass through. She is also interested in the exploration of popular issues in relations to her environment. Sometimes, she concentrates on themes in her socio-cultural environment. Her style can be likened to expressive realism.
